The Colbert Report Features “The Story Of Stuff” Author Annie Leonard

Environmental filmmaker, and now author, Annie Leonard recently arised on The Colbert Report to unveil her newest book, “The Story of Stuff.”

The book is based on the digital film she made in 2007, which so far has been viewed by more than 10 million society. Good Lord!  In short, it explains how the things we own end up owning us, and how over-consumption invents more of a problem than it’s worth. Leonard explains:

“Our quest for more stuff, and next the work you have to do to maintain it, is taking the place of things that supply deeper happiness, things like leisure date, moment with family, having a

sense of purpose beyond yourself, the quality of your social relations. Study after study shows that the things that really makes folks happy is not that new flat-screen TV, but it’s having a sense of community and a sense of purpose.”
