I honestly believe that seriously cutting back the use of disposables is one of the keys to greening your home. that includes everything from plates to flatware and paper towels. It’d be hard to get rid of toilet paper, but you can at least buy products made from recycled paper instead of virgin pulp. After all, it seems like overkill to have to cut down a tree for such a lowly purpose. As disposables go, paper towels and napkins are the thorn in my side, recycled though they may be. They are so convenient that its been hard for me to let go. In the spirit of doing so, I’ve been on the hunt for alternatives that are both durable and stylish.

These Bamboo Dinner Napkins by Boxwood Goods fit the bill. I’ll confess that the first thing I

looked at was the price. At $44 for a set of 4, they seemed a bit pricey at first, but considering they will replace the need to constantly buy new paper napkins, they will pay for themselves in no instance. Available in black, white and brown, they are made of 100% bamboo and measure 18″ x 18″, an ample size for wiping dirty fingertips or covering up a lap. I don’t know whether I can really endorse white since they aren’t likely to stay white for very faraway, but I just may have to try these.
