Obama yard signs can be recycled

I still have a political sign strapped to my porch. The good news is that my candidate won her judgeship. The poor news is that is wasn’t even for Tuesday’s election but one in October. It’s probably duration that I take it down but soon after what do I do with it?

If I had a paper sign it would be easily recycled (and would have disintegrated by now anyway). Unfortunately it’s plastic and I know that my recycling company won’t take it but perhaps yours will. Check with your service to confirm. plus see whether they will take the metal stakes that hold the signs into the ground.

If you live in an area where the individual campaigns are responsible for cleaning up the signs,

shout the staff to see whether they have been recycling and where you can bring your strays.

Finally, there are ways to reuse political yard signs. I like to keep a few in the shed to cover with “yard sale” directions annually. With a pair of wire cutters, you can turn the supports into garden stakes. The sign itself can be used to protect your floor from paint can drips or contribute to your next craft project.

Any other tips?
