New software customizes your energy conservation

There have been many attempts to convince the average person that their energy consumption might be out of control, but the fact is, unless they see precisely how they’re spending their money categorically, it won’t sink in. Enter startup software company Greenbox, who hopes to corner the market on utility company software reporting. Created by the same guys who brought us the Flash application, they’ve aly scored a pilot deal with Oklahoma Gas and Electric and hope to get the ball rolling on more utility companies soon.

The way it works is like that: utility customers will

see a complete breakdown of their energy usage to help the customer understand the real cost of electricity as it pertains to their individual usage. that usage applies to moment of day and current trends in how the rates are different all through the day. Plus, they’ll get to see which appliances are draining the most potential and even get access to their neighborhood and peer group’s usage as a comparison. It seems like a great concept, and with more and more competition sprouting in that market, we wish them the best of luck.
