McDonald’s growing green lettuce billboard

June 21, 2008 · Print This Article

“Green” billboards can take on many forms, some are solar-powered and some are, apparently, made of lettuce. McDonald’s came up with this design for a billboard in Chicago last year as a means of promoting their new salads and other health-conscious menu items, and although their intent wasn’t necessarily focused on earth-friendly it’s certainly a nice

side effect to see more plants growing in the middle of Wrigleyville. The restaurant chain worked closely with a horticulturalist in order to assemble certain the lettuce both grew in full and lush and was protected from the birds. I wonder how much it all cost to put together?
