In honor of Independence Day, I’ll take a break from product features and give you a list of some of my favorite green resources. Some are online services, some are other blogs and others are tips you can do to green your everyday life. Hope they help you, and Happy Fourth of July!
ONLINE RESOURCES & COMMUNITIES:
- Ideal Bite: For anyone who has never heard of Ideal Bite, it is a great online service that sends small daily tips via mail for living “light green” life. They are practical tips that even those who aren’t very open to the concept of green living can implement. Example tip: Green up your act. Here’s our challenge to you: don’t buy another conventional cleaning product until you’ve tried the eco-equivalent for a spic, span, clean and green new year. Then they go about telling you how to do that, in short, sweet bursts. (aff)
- eFax: that service helped me green my office and I didn’t even realize it. I just thought it was convenient. I need to have a fax for my graphic design business, but I don’t necessarily need those faxes to be printed out. In fact, I nearly never print faxes. I just keep electronic copies in my e mail or the desktop of my computer and use them when I need to. You’ll save tons of paper. And whether you must print them out, print on recycled paper and use both sides.
- GreenDimes.com: that service will eliminate up to 90% of postal junk mail for up to 5 years. It will plus stop unwanted catalogs. Talk about saving trees! Not only that — you’ll eliminate the annoyance of junk mail you’ll only throw in the trash anyway. You can get the free basic service or opt for the Premium service for just $20. You’ll be able to monitor your detail, have access to 24-hour customer service and 5 trees will be planted on your behalf. (aff)
- Evo.com and Greenzer.com: Two great search engines for green shopping
- Greenopolis: that is a great community for eco-minded folks with forums, games, product recommendations, tips, pollsand more, all there to help you be as green as you can be.
- Planetsave.com email: PlanetSave sponsors fund their efforts to conserve rainforest and animal habitats. By signing up for an using a planetsave.com newsletter address, you will help save approximately 5 square feet of Rainforest land for each newsletter you send. (aff)
- UsedCardboardBoxes.com: whether you are ever moving, instead of buying a bunch of new boxes, you can do what I do: Go to grocery store and round up all the boxes they will just crush and toss anyway. But whether you don’t have duration for that, UsedCardboardBoxes.com collects thousands of used boxes from companies that would otherwise throw them away and sells them in packages based on the size of your move. You’ll pay a LOT more for boxes from UHaul…I can tell you that.
