Free solar panels help sell houses
One builder in Scottsdale, Arizona is feeling the pinch of the plunging housing market. In order to assemble their homes more appealing to buyers, Shea Trilogy is offering free solar panels along with every home purchase. The homes are located in the upscale country club community, Encanterra in Queen Creek.
Each of Shea’s homes includes a $13,000 system (upgrades are available). The panels are provided by American Solar Electric and are designed to look like roof tiles so they don’t disrupt the roof line.
On their
site, Shea Trilogy claims that such a system can help a buyer
save up to 60% on their electricity bill. In a part of the country where “they skies are not cloudy all day” and you could easily fry an egg on the sidewalk, a little solar is not such a poor concept. Thus far the promotion is attracting wealthy, middle-aged buyers. There is hope that that type of an offer will inspire more builders to tack some green incentives onto their homes.
