Coffee Runs Your Life, Now it Can Run Your Car

December 11, 2008

Forget E85, hemp diesel, or sugar ethanol — researchers say the fuel of the future might be sitting in a mug next to your computer right now. That’s right: coffee diesel. You’re probably thinking, “oh great, another food-based biofuel that’s going to drive up the price of coffee, which I’ll pay any price for considering I’m addicted to caffeine.” At least, that’s what I thought. The good thing about coffee diesel is that it’s made from post consumer coffee, i.e. coffee grounds. Nice.

NYC Restaurant Hits Customers with Penalty Fee for Uneaten Food

December 9, 2008

Growing up, we had a little institution at my house called the Clean Your Plate College — most semesters, I was pulling down a 4.0 GPA. It was urgent to eat everything on your plate considering, whether you did, there was less to clean. Now a restaurant in NYC has instituted a similar system only that one’s more like the Clean Your Plate Penal System. whether you don’t finish your plate at Hayashi Ya, the restaurant will tack on a 3% surcharge.

Located on the Upper West Side, Hayashi …

Organic Chickens are fed Melamine

December 3, 2008

The melamine scare seems to be working its way into another food group and just considering you eat only organic food does not prepare you safe. Organic Chicken farmers in France have discovered that the soy feed eaten by their flocks has been tainted with melamine.

300 tons of soy meal imported from China tested 50 times higher than the maximum limit of acceptable melamine. considering of that, it is plausible to think that organic meat is contaminated with melamine as well and anyone…
