Incoming freshmen at the University of Miami can bring their laptops, dorm room decorations, and fall fashions to campus, but they’ll have to leave their car keys at home. As part of their “Green U” initiative, UM has banned cars for all freshmen. (Maine’s Bowdoin College plans to enact a similar ban in 2009.)
