A complete solar system for $1800?

August 26, 2008 · Print This Article

It seems every day we’re ing about the price of solar technology dropping dramatically. With scientists and researchers developing new ways to cool, store and distribute the capability generated from solar cells, it’s a promising future for the solar potential industry. Adding to that, Sharp recently announced a 12V solar system that will cost one-tenth of the usual $18,100-27,200 systems currently available to consumers. That’s right, one-tenth. that means solar potential is not only accessible to the perceived “average” household,

but even the more realistically lower income households who could benefit the most from off-grid energy.

The way that cheaper system works is through a few innovative ideas by Sharp. First off, they use smaller batteries, which will ultimately be “less harmful” to the environment in the distant term. They additionally skip the usual alternating current view for a direct flow current, which is assigned to only the necessities such as lighting and electric fans.
